Senior Instructor Gary Freihaut has studied martial arts since 1966. He started learning Judo, Hapkido, Akido, and Shur Shun Ru Karate. He began studying Kung Fu 36 years ago in St. Louis, Mo. He was awarded the rank of Assistant Instructor in 1985. After nine years of further teaching and studying, he attained the rank of Instructor in 1994. He taught underprivileged kids at Buder Community Center in South St. Louis. He and his students demonstrated their skills at Chinese New Year for the organization for Chinese Americans, Missouri Botanical Garden Chinese Festival, and Chinese New Year at Washington University with animal forms demonstrations and Iron Palm workshop. He teaches students from all walks of life, including victims of rape and abuse.
Head Instructor Shane was raised in the art, beginning formal study at the age of 15 years. As a young child, he was exposed to many different arts. He has assisted Senior Instructor Gary in classes for the past 20 years. He was promoted to Head Instructor in 2017.
