Tae Kwon Do
Taekwondo is a martial art that orginated from Korea and translates to “the way of the foot and fist”. The taekwondo practitioner utilizes the legs to kick and the hands to block and strike for physical exercise and for self-defense. Practicing the art and sport of Taekwondo can improve one’s physical fitness, stess relief, physical coordination, physical health, physical and mental discipline, increased flexibility, self confidence, and self-defense.
Practicing Taekwondo can also increase other sports performances such as football, soccer, baseball, and track and field. Over 2000 years old, Taekwondo is the most widely practiced martial art in the world today. It officially became an Olympic sport in the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia.
